• YEAR 1 AND 2 ONLY DRESS UP DAY TITANIC THEME

  On Tuesday 24th January the children in Year1 and Year 2 will be participating in a ‘Welcome Aboard the Titanic’ experience. They will be taking part in an afternoon of role play activities which will help to deepen their understanding of their topic for this half term. The children will be pretending to be either crew, 1st, 2nd or 3rd class passengers and learning about the different experiences of each group and the relationship between the numbers who survived and which class they were in.

   

  Your child will be playing the part of: a ship crew member,  a1st class passenger, a 2nd class passenger, a 3rd class passenger.

   

  It would be great if your child could come dressed for their part but we do not want you to go to any special lengths. Please see the back of this sheet for some ideas and ask your child’s teacher for any help if needed.

   

  Here are some ideas;

  1st/ 2nd Class passengers

  GIRL- party dress

  BOY- smart trousers and shirt/ suit

   

  3rd Class passengers

  GIRL- long skirt and plain top, use a scarf as a shawl or wear an apron

  BOY- trousers and plain top, with a waistcoat if you have one

   

  Crew

  Dark blue or black trousers/ skirt

  Dark blue shirt/ top

  Cap (if you have one)

  Temporary Change to Key Stage 2 Dinner Menu from Monday 23 January

   

  Due to circumstances beyond our control, urgent renovation works within the Flourish Building mean we will be unable to prepare the usual range of school dinner options, starting from Monday 23 January. We anticipate this lasting for up to two weeks.

   

  At Rose Lane Primary we understand the importance of providing our children with a nutritious and filling meal every day. Whilst we won’t be able to offer the full menu, we have worked closely with our caterers to ensure we continue to achieve this until the works are completed.

   

  During this time, the school dinner options available to children in Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 will be:

   

  Jacket Potato with Tuna, Cheese or Beans, served with side salad; or

  Filled Bread Roll with Tuna, Chicken, Ham or Cheese, served with side salad; and

  A selection of Fresh Fruit, Yoghurts and Jelly.

   

  We understand that some children may miss having their usual favourites, for which we can only apologise, but you are of course welcome to provide your child with a healthy packed lunch. If you choose to do so, we politely ask you to avoid fizzy drinks, sweets and chocolate bars, and be aware of pupils who may be allergic to nuts when selecting items (Rose Lane Primary is a nut-free school).

• FOODS OF THE WORLD PARTY DAY THURSDAY 19TH JAN 2023

  On Thursday 19^th January here at Rose Lane Primary School we are having one of our special menu days. The theme is foods of the world and our furry friends from Italy, Mexico, USA and Belgium are helping us out with the menu. To help with the celebratory atmosphere we are asking people to dress with an animal theme for the day. This can be any animal but we would especially like to see people dressed as hares, wolves, raccoons and Chihuahuas.

• FRIDAY 3RD FEB - NUMBER DAY DRESS UP IN PARTNERSHIP WITH NSPCC

  On Friday 3rd February - We will be having a fun day of maths activities and we will be taking part in Dress up for Digits. Pupils are asked to wear an item of clothing with a number on it (football shirt, cap, netball shirt or even a onesie!). Or get even more creative by dressing in a maths or numbers theme. To help raise money for the NSPCC, we are asking for donations, and we’d love everyone in the school to take part in this special event.

• INTERNET SAFETY WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS

  Ahead of internet safety week on 6th-10th February, all parents are invited to an internet safety workshop we will be holding on Tuesday 17th January at 215-3pm in our upper site hall (Flourish Hall).
