Mental Health Week

With schools partially closed and much uncertainty, children and young people’s mental health has never been more important.  From the 1st-7th February 2021, we're taking part in Place2Be's Children's Mental Health Week.  Place2Be has created activities and resources to help children (and adults) to explore the different ways that they can share their thoughts, feelings and ideas.  There are lots of resources on the children's mental health week website that you can use with your child at home; including activities, tips for parents and carers, and an online assembly which is available below.

The theme of this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week is Express Yourself.

Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. It is about finding a way to show who you are, and how you see the world, that can help you feel good about yourself. As parents and carers, you play an important role in your child’s mental health.

Why not watch the virtual assembly using the video below  as a starting point for your discussions?

Children's Mental Health Week assembly - with BAFTA Kids and Oak National Academy

We've teamed up with BAFTA Kids and Oak National Academy to create a free assembly featuring pupils and well known-faces discussing the theme of 'Express You...

The activities will culminate on Friday 5th February with “Dress To Express” Day. We are asking children both at school and at home to wear their favourite colour or choose a range of colours that express how they are feeling.   Colour can be very personal and mean different things to different people, so this is a great opportunity to encourage self-expression and celebrate a diverse range of emotions.

If you would like to share, with the school, a photograph of your child's outfit for this day then please send electronically a picture of your child to the school’s office email account office@roselane.bardaglea.org.uk. These pictures can then be used in a school display to celebrate this important event.

For home learning children, please find below a list of links that can be used with your children, with videos and activities for them and you to experience and enjoy. Please use them to consider how they and you feel and to help your children to help them express themselves.

A life lesson that all parents want their children to learn: It's OK to make a mistake. In fact, hooray for mistakes! A mistake is an adventure in creativity...
