We will be celebrating reading for pleasure with a whole host of events throughout the day concluding with the creation of the Rose Lane Reading Fair! This is an exhibition of the children's work completed during World Book Day. Come and see the magnificent work displayed in the Flourish Hall and while you are there, why not swap a book or even buy a new one at our Book Swap shop. The exhibition and Book Swap shop will be open from 3:15pm.
As always, each child will return home with a special voucher enabling them to buy a brand new book for only £1! This year Marks Gate Library will be selling the World Book day books from 3:30-6pm on the 16th March. Summer Picnic Lunch – Wednesday 25th June
We’re excited to let you know that on Wednesday 25th June, the whole school will be enjoying our annual Summer Picnic!
This means there will be a change to the usual lunch menu on that day, as we’ll be having a picnic-style school lunch. Weather permitting, we hope to enjoy it outside together as a school community.
There is no need to bring in any extra food for the picnic.
If your child usually brings a packed lunch, they can continue to do so as normal.
Please remember we are a nut-free school, so packed lunches must not contain nuts or any products containing nuts.
If your child would like to bring a blanket to sit on, they are very welcome to do so.
Please also ensure your child:
Wears a hat
Brings a bottle of water
Has sun cream applied before school
These steps are important every day while we are experiencing hot weather.
Thank you for your support , we’re looking forward to a wonderful picnic day!
We’re excited to share with you our upcoming celebration of British Science Week on Thursday, 5th June 2025. This year’s theme is “Change and Adapt”, and we have a fun and engaging afternoon planned for the children.
As highlighted in the attached flyer, the afternoon will be filled with STEM activities, giving pupils the opportunity to explore, ask questions, and enjoy hands-on discoveries around this fascinating theme.
To make the day even more special, we’re inviting all children to dress up either as a scientist or as an animal, a fun way to embrace the concept of adaptation!
We look forward to a fantastic day of learning and creativity, and we can’t wait to see everyone’s amazing costumes!

ANTI-BULLYING WEEK 11th – 15th NOVEMBER 2024
Next week is National Anti-Bullying Week and as usual, the school will be joining in with a packed programme of activities. The theme for this year is “CHOOSE RESPECT” and this will form the basis of our work. The children will be involved in a range of activities in class throughout the week to understand what bullying is and what they can do about it.
Too often, we are silent when we see bullying take place, silent about the hurt bullying causes, and silent when we hear bullying dismissed as “just banter or roasting.” Together, we can make a difference and take a stand against bullying. From the playground to our community and beyond.
On Wednesday 13th November our school will be celebrating ODD SOCKS DAY. Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun! It’s an opportunity to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique!
There is no pressure to wear the latest fashion or to buy expensive costumes. All you have to do to take part is wear odd socks to your school, it couldn’t be simpler! So please remember to encourage your children to wear odd socks on this day, the brighter the better.
Yours Sincerely
Mr Jukes
Assistant Deputy Headteacher
