Welcome to
Rose Lane Primary
Nurture, Inspire, Flourish
Dear Parents and Carers
Our school will be taking part in Hello Yellow on Friday 9th October (World Mental Health Day) to raise awareness for Young Minds, the UK’s leading charity for young people’s mental health. There are days when all of us struggle with how we are feeling. Things can get tough, and it can be difficult knowing how to cope. For so many young people, when this happens, they don’t always get the help they need, when they need it. They don’t know where to turn, who to talk to, or even if anyone else feels the same.
No young person should feel alone with their mental health and that’s why Hello Yellow matters. We’re taking this opportunity as a school community to come together and show our students that we’re with them and they’re never alone with their mental health
At Rose Lane Primary school, this is a great opportunity to continue to bring our students together and show how we all care about how they feel. It’s a chance to emphasise the importance of looking out for each other and get everyone feeling hopeful about the future.
On Friday 9th October your children will be taking part in activities to promote their own understanding of mental health. We would like all our pupils to wear something that is yellow. This could be an item of clothing e.g. T-Shirt, Tie, Dress, Hat or Yellow accessories, it could be as simple as your child making a yellow badge for themselves.
Also, we want to share the resources which Young Minds offer to support parents and carers if you ever need help and advice to support your children.
This includes:
• online resources (www.youngminds.org.uk/parent/)
• a phone line, open 9.30am-4pm (0808 802 5544)
• an online chat for parents and carers to speak to trained professionals if you’re concerned about your children’s mental health (www.youngminds.org.uk/parents-helpline/)
Happy Mental Health Day!
