Welcome to
Rose Lane Primary
Nurture, Inspire, Flourish
STATEMENT OF INTENT: Computing
“Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is the most important.” Bill Gates (co-founder of Microsoft)
“Technology will not replace great teachers but technology in the hands of great teachers can be transformational” George Courus (leading educator in the area of innovative leadership, teaching and learning)
It is our intention that pupils will leave Rose Lane Primary school knowing more and understanding more about how technology can be used for a range of purposes in everyday life. They will apply their skills to different subjects across the curriculum, enabling them to develop their computer literacy skills further and understand how they can be used in a variety of contexts. Pupils will be confident in using subject specific vocabulary both orally and in writing.
Building on this knowledge and understanding, pupils are equipped to use information technology to create programs, systems and a range of content. Pupils will understand the importance of online safety and know how to best protect themselves. Computing also ensures that pupils become digitally literate – able to use, and express themselves and develop their ideas through, information and communication technology – at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active participants in a digital world.
